The tourer is a much nicer looking beast than the saloon, and that's that for me, the only R40 I've
chosen rather than rescued was a tourer.
The tourer even looks quite nice in Monogram Snot Supertallic, I said this to Pete Barella when I saw his car for the first time, something that can't be said about the saloon.
For me most cars are long term, and most leave my ownership at end of life, and the longest I've owned one car is 32 years.
These cars look good, and as a design statement are pretty timeless, but they don't drive as nicely as a lot of contemporary cars.......but at the end of the day they are old cars now, and lot's of people have their rose tinted spectacles on when describing the driving experience
For the moment, my R40 will suffice, but as a driving experience the R40 is blown into the weeds by the R8, and that's my next project, I miss the practicality and good looks of the tourer (XW, not RJ)
