Most likely culprit is the fuel filter in the n/s of the tank. The plastic housing slightly unscrews itself & the fuel is pumped back into the tank. There’s a lot of info on this if you search for FFS (Fuel Filter Syndrome)
You need to lift the back seat base, unbolt the black cover & you'll see the filter housing, release the fuel pipe & unscrew the locking ring & carefully lift the housing out of the tank. It may not be obvious as it normally only backs of 1/4 of a turn if that. Grab it top & bottom & twist it back together, there is a thing known as the FOC (Fabled Orange Clip) which once fitted prevents it happening again. If the car was fairly low on fuel you may need to pop a gallon or so in before it will start as it can pump all the fuel into the left of the tank.
You might find your fuel gauge does funny things for a little while afterwards until the 2 senders sort themselves out but this is quite normal
