I had a similar problem, and covered mine with a quality leather 'glove', the kind that is stitched all the way round to give a lovely finish. that was 5 years ago and it looks as new anf feels lovely, it is made of fine grain Italian leather, just wipe it over with a good leather conditioner once in a while and it will look and feel great.
