The answer is yes as unfortunately we all know that the general majority of motorists never tend to look under their bonnet until it's too late. However theoretically it shouldn't suffer the same. The engine was really only ever designed to take 1.4, the 1.6 and 1.8 variations really are a stretch on the engine. The problem with the k-series range in it's entirety is the low tolerance cooling capacity in the system and the blown your nose on thicker tissue paper, elastomeric beading but again the stresses the 1.4 put these under is well within original design specs so with a well maintained example you could and really should be fine.
