Update. Kevin at Wickford is indeed on holiday until Monday and an appointment has been made for then.
Starter problem is just that I am sure, solenoids - are they the same as adenoids but only one of them - and the rattle is more than likely butterflies in the intake manifs but need to be sure so Kevin will sort it no doubt.
In the meantime I'll just have to grin and bear it by going to the trouble of using my MX5 every day until next week as a punishment. Woe is me if the sun don't shine.
