Hi Martin.
If you have had the drain tubes removed completely expect trouble because there is double skin in the plenum area, by removing the drain tube you have now allowed water to get between those two skins.

If the car did not need the drain plugs Rover would have left them to save costs don't you worry about that.

All that is needed is to cut then off by about 15mm job done and then add inner wing protection, use fish tank gauze each side
