Very sound advice .

Todays little task was going to be a brief cleanup in the engine bay, but lo and behold, bonnet won't open . Looks like it's going to be a case of removing an arch liner to gain access. The folks who do my servicing have said if I can wait a couple of weeks I can pop over in the evening and they'll put it up on their ramps and sort it for me . At least it will be clean under there .

Suppose that's what you get for neglecting cars .

Feeling chuffed today . Decided to have a go at getting the bonnet open myself. Jacked the car up, wheel off, and attacked the arch liner. A couple of skrivets refused to budge, so had to be drilled out, but apart from that, all plain sailing and bonnet is now open .

Daft design though. The end of the inner part of the release cable is held in place by a small hook, and had become dislodged. Very easy to do, but just as easy to put it back (once you've gained access).
