I think that the problem is that the relative positions of the fixings are seriously different from the originals. The hole in the centre of the spring cups are offset, as are the strut base connectors (offset as opposed to being in the centre). It was the lack of suitable welds that worried me! I'm not surprised that they are failing but am surprised that the ministry/department of transport are not picking up on these "aftermarket" parts. A collapsed suspension could be catastrophic at any speed. The same applies to failing wheel bearings, brake discs, ball joints etc., all of which are being reported on various forums on a regular basis.
