It depends on how you use a car if an EV will work for you. The wife never goes further than 50 miles away from home and uses her car mainly to drive to work 10 miles away so an EV would suit her perfectly if we could afford one.
As has been said the time it takes to recharge is one of the biggest reasons apart from the cost why I would have one at the moment. A Tesla owner was telling me he had a proper car for long journeys but prefers the Tesla for local trips.
