The VOSA recall notices specifically covered Rover 75 Saloons within a certain VIN range. However, discussions here suggest that fractures have ocurred on 75s outside that range, but I've not seen any ZTs involved. There's anecdotal evidence that MGR depots were supplied with stocks of spring protectors with instructions to fit them to all the cars they serviced. Whether that incuded ZTs isn't clear. However, the cost of the devices is so low, it seems daft not to fit them anyway.
The cause of the problem seems to be low temperature induced embrittlement and isn't corrosion or fatigue related.
