My neighbour has a 15 year old Fiesta that stays on his drive for weeks at a time unused, he can leave that as long as a month between starts and it always just fires up.

You could be right, I have Diesel and a V6, they are also left standing and go back to them after even a couple of weeks and they both start okay.
