It is one of the later single fuel pump ones and before this morning it had no problems. Newish battery and rebuilt alternator that was chucking out 14 plus volts.

Either a bad earth or a duff battery.Even if the alternator is throwing out 14+ volts it dose not mean to say the battery is storing it.
Also check the connections on to the starter motor mainly the small spade connector.
