I would say that it is because of the shape, design and quality of the post-2008 Jaguars (XJ, XF, XKR, F-type) that JLR are still in the business of making cars. Had these cars not arrived when they did, JLR would have been dead as a car manufacturer.
Despite our love of the quaint, we should recgnise that the market wants cars that look and drive like Mercedes, BMW and Audi as opposed to Rover 75.
