When you say your car was repaired who paid for it ?

I ask because I had a similar experience and my own insurance paid for the repair until they were reimbursed by the other insurance company who were looking after the third party.

The other insurance company were dragging their feet and in the meantime my premium was due for renewal and like you it went sky high and at the time I could not afford the increase.

In the end I took to phoning both insurance companies and did their job for them and the premium went back to normal as soon as my company were reimbursed.

This may not be the case here but maybe worth a phone call to find out.

You also say that the other person admitted liability at the time but did they put that on their insurance report as it wouldn't be the first person who changes their mind when putting pen to paper, and you wont find out unless you ask.

Good luck either way, I hate insurance companies, offer you deals to suck you in, then forget about your loyalty, Churchill charged me for 2 breakdown recovery packages on mine and swmbos cars yet forget to tell me I only needed one as we were both covered in either car by just one of the packages. They refused a refund so the dog food is no longer paid for by me - Oh Yessss !
