Thank you all sincerely for your help and support. The used parts arrived today, cup of tea then followed the OP’s guide on the filter.
Low and behold
It wasn’t anything to do with Rover fuel lines
It appears it was definitely the mech’s fault
Any guesses?
How about the filter wasn’t in properly and the o-ring had blown out, but in such a place that it looked exactly like it was coming out of the front pipe coupling. When there is Derv shooting out at many many psi you can’t exactly look closely whilst it’s doing it!
But all’s well that ends well, seems the diesel tidal wave mainly went out underneath, not too much found when I removed the engine cover. I was really gutted by all this because I kinda getting attached to my conty and I’ve been enduring train travel whilst it’s been laid up.
I think I can now justify a trip to Halford’s and get us a DAB!!!
