Changing the Cam sensor hasn't worked (so far). Could anyone advise me please? If I put a washer between the sensor and the socket might it work?
Please, please help!
Putting a washer in between the camshaft sensor, might make it run slightly cooler as these start failing when hot. It will not be a long term solution, though.
I know that people have put them in the freezer for a while and get them to work.

Regarding the crankshaft sensor, I think that you can eliminate that by watching the rev counter, whilst trying to start the engine.
If the needle flickers on the attempted start, then the crankshaft sensor should be good.

All your symptoms point to a faulty camshaft sensor and, as Mike Noc says, the replacement part could be wrong or faulty.

Can you get the car scanned, ideally with a T4, to see what error codes it throws up?
