I've owned my bay since 1996, I once drove it down to the South of France and this year we've done a tour around Scotland, up to the Isle of Mull, a couple of music festivals, VW shows & we'll still to do a week in Cornwall, and an overnighter in Brighton.
As you all say above, it is truly dire as a vehicle in which to cover long distances or even to camp in, my personal worst mpg was 13.6 mpg, but I wonder how many 75's will make it to tax & MOT exemption at forty years old.
