Back in 1963, due to deep snow, I spent weeks going out in a land Rover with massive chains on all four wheels, to all intents and purposes, there were no roads, so you could go where you liked, we drove around all over the place, mainly between Poole, Wimborne, Blandford, and Wool areas, the snow was so hard I could walk about on it in most places, but if you fell through, it was up over your waist in some area, and very hard to get back out of.....
The snow fell on new years eve, I was playing a gig in Oakdale, and had to leave my car and walk the 3 miles home to Hamworthy, it was weeks before I got my car back...
There was still some snow on the ground in early March.
