Sorry Galambosi, I can't help you with that. I don't remember encountering that difficulty and it's not mentioned in my notes.

Yes. The convention is always that the crankshaft pulley is at the front of the engine. So for our transversely mounted V6, the bank on the right hand side of the engine would be at the back of the engine bay.
The LH bank has odd numbered cylinders and the RH bank even. It's the same on my SD1's V8. Therefore no. 2 is at the front of the RH bank as Slovcan explains.
