It may well have been used to tow a boat where it’s in the water on the slip road accelarating corrosion and may explain why the rest of it looked in good condition.

One of the local garages is advertising a scrappage scheme for cars older than 7 years it’s nuts plenty of life left in them although If build quality keeps going back the way then that maybe all they’ll last.
