It's sad that manufacturers are going backwards in terms of rust protection, most of us went through this years ago with Fiat, Lancia and quite a few other brands..
Last year I bought a KIA Sedona also known as the Carnival, great motor space wise and it was a project car I prepared for our holiday, did tonnes of work on it finally sent in to my local guy to fit a cam belt kit and water pump. They called me to say they couldn't do it as the mechanic had sheared the engine mount bolts..
On the rust have a look at the sills after I cut it open:
