Plus he said he wants it done ASAP so hasn't got time to wait around for it to be send off, fixed and returned, as he's having to ride in to work, which I know he doesn't like doing as it's cold in the dark, and he doesn't like riding in the city traffic.

He might want to change his mind when he sees the price of a new SCU and two new remotes, as the old ones will be U/S and cannot be reprogrammed.....
