Regarding the Message Centre IPK, perhaps there is a way involving perhaps the BMW scanner? I don't know anything about it but it can turn on the digital speedo so maybe it could be used to active the low coolant warning.

Would be interesting to try pin 10 on a very early message centre IPK e.g. from early/mid 1999.
