I used builders planks in the past to make up some ramps for my Land Rover which is 1.5 tons. It just requires sufficient wood to take the load , plans and drawings often appeared in Practical Motorist in the 1950/60's as power tools and welders were unavailable at reasonable prices for DIY. Most owners would have a handsaw , hand drill and a screwdriver.
