Removal of the screen surround rubber with the chrome strip will reveal the clips. New ones are available, because they often snap during the job. Silicone sealant is favourite I believe.

what holes? I've just looked at my mk 2 and there are no holes for the chrome trim. The plastic fittings all mount onto "pegs" The only holes I can see are under the plenum cover/ scuttle panel
