On LHD cars there is much less access to get at the cable joiner if it comes apart. With that in mind I lubricated the assembly, flipped the block and tie-wrapped it to the mounting panel. That's good for peace of mind.
I also did a quick fill and respray of the area of the slam panel where it had been marked by the Sawzall that had been used to cut the bonnet catch pin.
