Hi Ian.
The mount from the petrol also fits into the cage /metal housing, that is not the problem, the problem is that the height of the rubber is 15mm more on the petrol or the ones that are being sold to fit the diesel.

I can take the measurement tomorrow and post it up.

I can remember ages ago finding out that a FL mount fits but can not remember if the cage was removed i am in touch with the person whom had the mount of me and he is going to check tomorrow for me, i would think that on the diesel the housing needs to be in place otherwise it would not have been there, with Rover trying to save on money any way they could.
