everything can now go on hold, having tested the pcb I think it is faulty as I don't get power on all the pins I think I should but what the heck do I know? Anyway I have rung Lacie, don't ask why I rang on a Saturday I just did to ask if I could get a new pcb but no I can but wait for it wait they are going to replace the whole thing.
Apparently warranty ran out in April but they added another 3 months, I'm blown away. I thought way out of warranty.

fingers crossed they follow through.
