having seen a youtube clip I stripped my external hard drive down so I ended up with just the hard drive in my hand. I then took my sons desk top apart hoping and expecting to find an additional plug that would fit into my hard drive. I was then going to turn his pc on and see if my hard drive would work but no spare plug.

I have found something on the net that tells me what voltage should be on each pin, I'll test for voltage next.
