Good thread!
Ignoring the Pop-py stuff my earliest influence was the Roxy Music first album ... leading to the purchase of every Roxy / Bryan Ferry album until he went very mainstream and cover version centric.
Then the Leftism album by Leftfield in '95 and (sadly) only their 2 subsequent albums.
Not very Ferry-esque at all if you know them!
