If you have had a Remap or a Tuning box installed this can cause many problems with T4.
It may take the Technician a few attempts.
Turn off Synergy or any other device before matching up.
Mine is a pig to get T4 to work sometimes, but have a Custom Re Map and Synergy fitted.
Of course could be just down to not knowing how to use the T4 properly, many don't.
