I am not attempting to get the engine up and running again as to may components are missing, I am removing what would be useful at the same time trying to find the cause of the none starting, which I think I found today after removing the cam shafts.
Two of the rocker arms have split/cracked/smashed, as to why I don't know yet, but it happened after the car had the crank pulley changed, few photo's below I spoke to Brian about this at the time, hopefully he may have an idea.

My thoughts as to what happened to this engine..........
The crank pulley was removed and installed with a rattle gun, and this has disturbed the lower timing chain guide, leading to the timing being lost shortly afterwards.
When the valves came into contact with the pistons, this is when the rockers were damaged.
When the head is removed all will become apparent
This particular engine, and by that I mean the M47R, has three different thicknesses of head gasket, according to tolerances, including head skims, and the pistons actually protrude through the gasket fire rings, and the clearance to the valves is minimal.
I look forward to the next part of the stripdown.
