It's important the clip goes on the threaded bar in the same place it came off.
Make sure you can open the door from inside and outside. Lock/unlock/open/close the door several times before replacing the door card.
If not sometimes the position of the white clip on the threaded bar causes the mechanism to jam and it will not open from inside or outside and it is a pain to get back in there.
