EXTREMELY difficult to engage gears!!!
Mashing the pedal into the carpet still isn't disengaging the clutch enough. It's been problematic for a while now but earlier this week while driving to work as I depressed the clutch there was an audible "crack" and now the clutch pedal sits at least 2-3 inches higher than the brake pedal. For the first 4 inches or so there is no resistance at all and If I put the car into first gear before firing up the engine then even pushing the pedal down as hard as I can the car still nudges forward.
After speaking to Dave Johnson he seems to think there's a bushing on the pedal that has worn out, probably damaging the master cylinder due to the change in angle of operation. As you (and so many here) know these cars inside and out is this a known issue?

On a side note, I'm beginning to wonder whether given enough time a complete 75 could be built from your spares!
