Default Coolant Leaks and hose clips

Thought the infamous T connector had failed last night when I had steam rising from under the bonnet. When I opened the lid their was a very fine jet of water spouting vertically from, I thought, the T-piece. Almost ordered one on ebay last night but just as well didn't as would have incorrectly got the one with the 4th outlet for turbos where as on mine that outlet is blanked. Anyway on closer inspection today it is in fact the short (4") hose connected to the T-piece which has a hole. So just need to get a bit of hose, looks like 32mm and presumably any car accessory shop would have suitable stuff. I am also puzzled with the hose clips. Not those spring ones which I have seen others asking over where you nip the 2 sticky out bits together. Mine are straight metal bands with a raised bit each quarter of the way round looking almost like they have been crimped on. Is there some trick to removing these or are they just sawn, snipped or prised off by whatever means.
