There are 2 types of EGR input pipes fitted to the M47R
Doesn't seem to be year related either.

One has the water jacket for quick warm up.
Basic type doesn't .

Anyone who's bypassed the former will lose the fast warm up benefits even if they have a good thermostat .

Identification of the water jacket is easy.
Its a stainless steel block with metal inlet and outlet pipes ( all one piece)
A black plastic bleed point is clearly visible too.
I posted pics up few years back on here somewhere!

It also explains why owners report different warm up times on the many Thermostat renewal threads.
