It is supposed to help with lubrication of the injector pump and the injectors, some even say it helps with the burn in the combustion chamber, people have used it in diesels as the sulphur content has been reduced in the fuel and this helped lubricate parts of the fuel system, that's how I understand it, and I always did use it in my older Volvo V70 diesel and citroen xantia with no adverse effects but they were older designed engines. Oh and I used 3mll per litre of fuel.
