Your neighbour should complain to the local mechanic. It is his responsibility to fix the problem he's caused. Failing that, I suggest he finds an ex-MGR dealer with a T4 diagnostic computer which should do the trick.

There are many ECUs in the Rover 75. An electric memory seat is controlled by its own ECU under the driver's seat cushion. This has a k-bus connection to the Body Control Unit (BCU).
