Good morning all, how is everyone? 27C today, rains are returning at the weekend.

A couple of days ago, I was pulled over at a police & army roadblock on the motorway about an hour and a half drive from Nairobi. They were determined to get me on something. I was ready to go to the police station, pay the fine and then court in the morning, but the court is 50 miles from Nairobi. The police/army make it as difficult and inconvenient as possible.

The procedure is pay the fine. If you don’t have the money to pay the fine, the driving licence is confiscated, it’s a night in the cell with about 15 others, then go to court and argue the case and innocence. If the case is not proved, I would get my money back and licence.

If proved, the fine could be more or less depending on how many offences have been racked up. I heard the magistrates were in cahoots with the police, so losing the case was a certainty ......unless one has a lawyer.

The cop said they had me on the radar trap going over the limit. When I took my sunglasses off, he said “oh I see your old, let me try and help you”..... he was looking for a bribe. All the talk about the radar trap was flannel. Then he wanted to know if I was a Christian and could I give him a blessing in latin. That was a bit surreal, but I filmed it. The camera was running all of the time. He looked odd with blood shot eyes, greasy skin and giant teeth like tombstones.

I had it all on the dash cam what speed I was going and when I asked for his name and badge number, he pretended to be deaf. There was about 50 of them pulling cars, trucks and coaches, a money earner, a bad experience.
