I think another thing to consider when fixing rain leaks, is the area needs to be thoroughly dry. Sealants and blocking solutions must either cure or dry out on a suitable surface and you really don't get that at this time of year. The best time is during a warm, rain-free spell. Unfortunately, we tend to forget about fixing leaks in the part of the year when they aren't a problem. Anyway, that's certainly why I still get boot puddles.
