Excess coolant from header tank
Hi Simon , thanks for the advice given. The coolant temperature reading given by the instrument pack diagnostics are as follows it climbed steadily to 79 ( useless temp gauge had just climbed to the 9 o`clock position) the fan on low speed cut in at 105 and continued running, the temp climbed to 110 and stayed at that fiqure. I switched engine off( as had idled for some 20 minutes so was concerned engine was going to cook) then the fan went to 2nd speed and ran for approx 40 seconds before it switched off. The temp gauge did not move from the 9 o`clock position at anytime once engine was hot. Mike stafford from MJS Autoandmarine came up to north cambs from sussex ( highly recommended by fellow club members) to do the head gasket and cambelt etc, so it was in the hands of someone who knows these engines well, and it was mentioned there was evidence of K-seal present in the system and that would have been used before it came into my ownership, Regards Paul
