Since Phil has reported that the motor is cycling on and off, that suggests that the commutator is serviceable and that the slow speed supply brush has worn to minimum length.

here's your supplier of new motor brushes. Ignore the word 'heater', they are for the radiator motor and the specification was drawn up after consultation with me and club member
Greeners. I have them in my own car's fan motor.

Yes, I have a KV6 2.5 litre too and with careful manoeuvring the plastic mouldings can remain intact.
