Joking aside, as a Guide Dog puppy walker this is a HUGE issue for blind & partially sighted people who are, say, simply trying to cross the road.
Imagine you have no sight. Currently (no pun intended
) you can "hear" the traffic. What do you do if you can't hear anything?
Just step out and hope for the best?
Hope you're one of the 5K who have a working Guide Dog? (There's about 200K people registered blind).
I wonder if we'll be able to choose a range of engine noises a bit like those Sat Nav voice options?
Maybe a DFV, or a BTCC RX7 rotary (now I'm giving my age away
).
