It would help if you told us what engine you are talking about.

However, if you are talking about possible HGF, I assume its a K4 1.8. I had a similar thing with the wife's 25 1.8. It sounds as if it may not be HGF. The inlet manifold gasket can leak also internally (to the engine inlet passages), and externally. If it leaks externally, the coolant creeps down onto the head then it finds the head-block joint, and creeps round this until it exits at the front of the engine, towards the RH side underneath the exhaust manifold.

Have I described your fault exactly ? If I have, you need to replace the inlet manifold gasket. They are not expensive.
