I think that diagnosis is probably unreliable. There has never been a similar problem reported on the forum. It's more likely to be a leaking gasket.
I'd recommend that you use a degreasing product such as Gunk to clean the front cover then drive the car for a limited mileage and repeat the inspection. That will give you a clearer idea of the source of the contamination.
