Thanks for this. To update this minor saga, whilst the interior lamps fuse may be OK, the voltage rail measures as it should and the bulbs test as OK - there remains the issue of those pesky lockfit bulb holders! If these are very slighly turned (by turning the pushed in bulb) the earth contact can then be re-made where there was presumably no (or poor) contact before and the bulb will mercifully light up. But turn it too far and the whole fitting gets lost up inside the lamp compartment bay..... I guess you all know this, but having Posted this query in the first place, I thought I would share.
