I take it you haven't owned a Freelander long term then Rick?

There are far better 4x4 drivetrains out there. Over time the viscous coupling stiffens up and that puts a strain on the entire system and can wear out the IRD gearbox and rear diff.

The Freelander 2 haldex differential would be an improvement, but they aren't without their own faults.
