In the end, I decided that the need for a top quality socket set was perhaps a bit of an indulgence, so I saved myself £17 and bought this one instead:

Arrived today, excellent delivery time, seems adequate for my needs...but then, as an absolute amateur, how would I know!

I tried to tell a 'manager' at LIDL's that their 54 piece socket set was way over-priced (at £80), but the lady would only say that's the price, it is not a mistake...I had to insist that yes it was a mistake, but could see I was up against inherent jobsworthiness, so to stop me getting more insistent and her more entrenched, I just asked her to have it checked, and walked away. No good deed goes unpunished!

I'm guessing my tool set will prove just fine for me...
