There was a huge and well reported incidence of bad biodiesel getting to the pumps about 6 years ago. it affected whole fleets of company cars.
Things are obviously better now, but using diesel with biodiesel additives is like playing Russian roulette - albeit with a very large chamber. I've got the bullet a couple of times.
