Got a surprise at the chemist. I take loperamide because of the metformin I'm on. Didn't bother the GP about it, just get the generic stuff over the counter, fraction of the price of brand names like Imodium. Anything I can buy cheaply enough over the counter I won't pursue a prescription for. I went to get some today, only had Imodium or prescription stuff, no way I'm paying for Imodium. Then the assistant asked, "do you get free minor ailments?", she could tell by the look on my face I had no idea what she was talking about! Seems I qualify for free "over the counter" medications for minor ailments (never heard of that before), they're issued by the pharmacist same as a prescription and I was rather taken aback to be handed a box of 18 Imodium for nowt.
